I’m Matteo, a photographer based in Italy. My work explores the relationship between photography, light, and the natural environment, often through alternative and experimental photographic processes.

During this residency, I will work with the surrounding woodland to create a series of anthotypes using leaves and other natural materials collected from the forest. By using plant-based pigments and sunlight, I will create photographic images of the forest directly onto leaves from the same environment, connecting the subject, the material, and the photographic process into a single work.
