At Hub Feenix, creativity has space to breathe. It moves between quiet studios, a coworking space and our Makerspace, where artists, residents, and curious minds come together for hands-on work and exploration.
Whether you’re painting in the morning or building something entirely new in the wood or metal workshop downstairs, there’s room here for both focus and play. You’ll find the spaces, tools, community, and freedom to bring your creations to life at your own pace, in your own way.
As part of the residency, you can shape your experience around how you work best. There are three ways to structure your creative setup during your stay. The standard residency fee includes a dedicated studio space, your personal place to focus, and access to our coworking space. If you don’t need a private studio, you can instead choose to work primarily from our Makerspace instead. It’s includes multiple spaces around the building designed for hands-on making and experimentation.
If you’re simply looking for time and space to think, write, or reset, you’re welcome to join us without a studio or Makerspace access at a more accessible residency rate.
Artists with private studios can also access our Makerspace, according to availability and any associated fees. This allows you to combine studio work with specialist equipment when your project calls for it.
If you’re planning your materials in advance, you can also explore our art supply guide in Finland.
Our private studios are designed for calm concentration and creative flow. Filled with natural light and forest views, they offer a quiet place to focus. Think of them as blank canvases — spaces you can mould around your work. They offer the perfect environment for painters, illustrators, and visual artists to slow down and sink into their work.
Not every artist needs a studio or workshop every day. Sometimes, what you need most is a quiet space to write, plan, or design. Our coworking area, shared with the wider community, offers a large workspace where you can concentrate on your practice without distraction. It includes access to display monitors, printers, and office essentials.
The Hub Feenix Makerspace is a vibrant, hands-on environment where materials meet imagination. It includes dedicated areas across the property, giving you the freedom to explore different disciplines and try new techniques. Workshops, informal skill-shares, and collaborative projects often take place here, bringing together residents and community members to learn from one another.
Our woodworking area is designed for makers who love the feel of raw materials and hands-on building. You’ll find everything you need for small projects, furniture making, repairs, prototypes, or more experimental work, from saws and planers to a small sawmill and bench tools. It’s a large, welcoming space at 300m2 inside and 3000m2 outside, whether you’re shaping your very first project or refining a long-term craft.
The metal workshop supports creators working with strength, structure and form. Equipped with welders, drills, and garage-level machinery, it’s ideal for fabricating frames, sculptural pieces, hardware, and mixed-material projects. A great place for makers who want room to explore their ideas from building fixing a car, to building a robot, and everything in-between.
Have a digital idea? We’re set up for that too. With 3D printers and accompanying design software, you can bring everything from sculptures to functional prototypes to life. Our electronics bench is fully equipped, with soldering irons, a lab power supply, and an oscilloscope, giving you the tools to create anything from a simple LED project to a Raspberry Pi–based robot. It’s a space where traditional craft meets modern making, and where experimentation is always encouraged
For those working with music, video, or audio, there are facilities to record audio, edit and produce. There are tools supporting creators, including microphones, audio interfaces, and a workstation for editing your footage (Davinci Resolve up 4k) or mixing your tracks. Whether you’re capturing voiceovers, building soundscapes, or polishing a creative project, you’ll have what you need to bring your stories to life.
For pottery lovers or ceramic artists: we’ve got kilns (Kerako 110) and pottery wheels ready, ideal for hand-building or wheel-throwing. When you’re done shaping clay, fire it, glaze it, finish it, all on-site.
Our on-site printmaking workshop opens up the world of traditional printmaking. Whether you’re working with relief prints, etching, or other paper-based techniques, you’ll have access to a professional press, inks, and materials to create editions or experimental pieces.
Our textile studio is setup for creative sewing, upholstery, or fabric-based art. Machines, large cutting tables, and an open atmosphere for experimenting with cloth, pattern and stitch.
Whether you arrive with a clear plan or an open question, Hub Feenix offers the time, space, and tools to explore your practice fully. This is a place to work deeply, learn from others, and let ideas evolve, supported by shared spaces and a community that values making, curiosity, and care.
If this sounds like the environment you’ve been looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
